Red Print

 In the painting, the print is of from the bottom of a converse shoe. The idea of this painting was to take the pattern of an everyday object such as a bottom of a shoe and make it interesting. The color family I used were reds, magentas, and purples. The painting itself didn't come out that great to me, I feel like I have taken more time to blend and make straighter lines. Overall, it's okay.

This is my piece for National Hispanic Heritage Month. The painting was meant to represent Hispanic culture and appreciation. In drafting the idea of this painting, I researched historical Hispanic paintings and celebrations. Then, I tried to includes these things with my own style of painting. I used a lot of warm hues such as reds, oranges, yellows. I really liked how the painting came out. However, I could improve on the skin tones and the painting of the dog. Also, the wheat before the sunflower could how painted a bit better.

I named the painting/collage HeadSpace because the main message of the piece is having a safe space to go to you-re stressed or sad. The past couple of days I have been going through a rough patch in my life and having a safe space to rely on has been very helpful. The background of the painting is very colorful and old liking because I love vintage pieces whether it's clothing or artwork and its very colorful because I love using color in my work. The paper flower next to me represents my love for nature and wildlife. The person facing the wall is me and the reason why I have a fishbowl over my head is because I love marine biology.
