HeadSpace

Image
I named the painting/collage HeadSpace because the main message of the piece is having a safe space to go to you-re stressed or sad. The past couple of days I have been going through a rough patch in my life and having a safe space to rely on has been very helpful. The background of the painting is very colorful and old liking because I love vintage pieces whether it's clothing or artwork and its very colorful because I love using color in my work. The paper flower next to me represents my love for nature and wildlife. The person facing the wall is me and the reason why I have a fishbowl over my head is because I love marine biology.

World Problem artwork

Image
This is my world problem artwork. The idea of this piece was the more modern form of bullying and loneliness which is, isolation. In today's era bullying is not what teen movies portray such as out loud teasing and physical violence. Although those cases still happen, the most common form of bullying is isolation which makes a person feel invisible. More often than not, this isolation happens to those in society's are weird or misfit. This isolation can be a conscious or unconscious decision by others towards a person, but at the end of the day, it can still hurt that person because they feel alone.

This is my color wheel. This was pretty simple to make, and it did help me practice my blending of colors.

Skin tones

Image
This is my practice of learning skin tones. I learned that skin tones are harder to make than I imagined. However, I also learned that skin tones are layers and layers of different hues and that some people of mixtures of hues ranging where on the skin that a person is looking at. For example, a person's neck can be darker than their face or have a more red undertone than their face. I'm still improving on skin tones but, understand it more than before.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Image
This is my piece for National Hispanic Heritage Month. The painting was meant to represent Hispanic culture and appreciation. In drafting the idea of this painting, I researched historical Hispanic paintings and celebrations. Then, I tried to includes these things with my own style of painting. I used a lot of warm hues such as reds, oranges, yellows. I really liked how the painting came out. However, I could improve on the skin tones and the painting of the dog. Also, the wheat before the sunflower could how painted a bit better.
